West Virginia University Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium

For the first time since 2005, the West Virginia - Virginia Tech rivalry resumed. Previously, the teams had met 51 times, beginning in 1912, with WVU holding a slight 28-22-1 overall advantage. The winner of the game earns the coveted Black Diamond Trophy. On September 18, 2021, the Mountaineers emerged victorious, defeating the Hokies 27-21 and winning the coveted trophy on the home field in Milan Puskar Stadium.

One of the most recognizable traditions of WVU football is the singing of John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads.” After every Mountaineer victory, the fans stay in the stands and sing-along with the football team.
